The COVID-19 epidemic has posed numerous concerns to the world. To stop the virus from spreading, almost all countries had to shut down their economies, and the Philippines is one of those countries that has taken severe steps by implementing Enhanced Community Quarantine last March 15, 2020. The quarantine helped to contain the virus’s spread, and the Philippines appear to be on its way to flattening the curve.
Despite having one of
the world’s longest and strictest lockdowns, the Philippines has the second-
highest number of COVID-19 infections in Southeast- Asia. The social and
economic life of the people are still being impacted by movement limitations
imposed in various sections of the country. However, depending on our status as
individuals and as members of society, the pandemic’s impact and repercussions
are perceived differently. While some people strive to adjust to working,
educating their children, others have no choice but to be exposed to the virus
while keeping society functioning. Our different social identities and social
groups we belong to determine our inclusion within society and, by extension,
our vulnerability to epidemics.
The coronavirus disease
(COVID-19) pandemic is unprecedented in most people’s lifetime. Lockdowns and
curfews imposed to stop the virus from spreading had an impact on how children
study, how our families earn a living, and how safe we feel in our homes and
community. Despite the concern, countries around the world are beginning to
relax their limitations. As we consider if we will ever return to what we
previously knew as “normal”.
Hi Trisha!! I really like the structure and content of this blog. The message is clear and on point, there are also no mistakes in its grammar. Although the Philippines has a bad government and corrupt officials, its citizens are the complete opposite of it. They are like a bamboo tree, no matter how strong the wind is, they will still stand up again despite the damage they have taken. It is a unique trait that we, the Filipinos must be proud of.
ReplyDeleteThe pandemics has taken a toll on everyone but hopefully we'll overcome this
