In the Philippines, Araw ng Kagitingan is a non-working
holiday that falls on a long weekend. On this day, World War II veterans parade
in various places around the Philippines. There are modest parades throughout
the Philippines, but the primary feature of the Araw ng Kagitingan is when the
country's president delivers a speech at the Mt Samat shrine in Bataan province
to remember the heroism of Filipino and American troops during World War II.

Araw ng Kagitingan is a Philippine national holiday that
falls on or around April 9. Many streets will be closed, and public
transportation routes may be rerouted to accommodate the parades. Malls and
other recreational locations are open, and most people may go there and spend
the day with their families.
If you ask me, it is only appropriate that we remember the
sacrifices that our warriors had to make, as well as the hardships and
tribulations that they had to undergo, all for the sake of our freedom. Take
notice that they contributed to our current status as a free and independent
country.
