Empowered Woman During COVID-19 Pandemic

As COVID-19 continues to disrupt the global economy and society, it becomes more evident that the pandemic is affecting women and men differently and that gender-balanced responses are necessary. Governments and humanitarian organizations have come together in creating strategies for responding to the challenges arising from the pandemic, including the gendered impacts that pose as a threat to the safety, welfare and economic standing of women worldwide. In more ways than one, the COVID-19 pandemic stands in the way of Women’s Economic Empowerment.

In many ways, the coronavirus pandemic has affected women more than men. Reports of gender-based violence shared alarming results, sexual and reproductive health services were difficult to access, and President Rodrigo Duterte continued to make sexist remarks in his public addresses. The pandemic has also shown that many women continue to be underestimated when it comes to leadership roles. But that hasn’t stopped women from choosing to excel in their fields, and making the best out of their skills to help their communities survive.

The COVID-19 pandemic is harming health, social and economic well-being worldwide, with women at the center. First and foremost, women are leading the health response: women make up almost 70% of the health care workforce, exposing them to a greater risk of infection. At the same time, women are also shouldering much of the burden at home, given school and child care facility closures and longstanding gender inequalities in unpaid work. Women also face high risks of job and income loss, and face increased risks of violence, exploitation, abuse or harassment during times of crisis and quarantine.

To stop the virus from spreading, almost all countries had to shut down their economies, and the Philippines is one of those countries that has taken severe steps by implementing Enhanced Community Quarantine last March 15, 2020. The quarantine helped to contain the virus’s spread, and the Philippines appear to be on its way to flattening the curve. Despite having one of the world’s longest and strictest lockdowns, the Philippines has the second- highest number of COVID-19 infections in Southeast- Asia. The social and economic life of the people are still being impacted by movement limitations imposed in various sections of the country. However, depending on our ...

In this world, many people surround us. Despite the fact that we all appear to be alike, we are all unique in our own ways. Every person on this earth has a unique quality that are shared with others. Getting to know others allows you to expand your horizon, generate new ideas, and spread them. I’m currently studying in ISNHS I choose to study there because it gives quality education, enhance abilities and develop new skills and talents. I am a person who makes mistake, laughs, cries, hurt, smiles, and loves. I am who I am through my joys, sorrows, heartbreaks, happiness and loses. Each step in my life and each moment that goes by make me up as an individual person. My life is full of both good and painful memories. My attitude in my family is not like my attitude in my friends, if I am with my family sometimes I’m behave and I don’t talk too much, and if I am with my friends I’m very talkative.
